Dr. Valerie Kiper Doctoral Leadership Scholarship

The Panhandle Great 25 Nurses Scholarship Committee invites applications for the Dr. Valerie Kiper Doctoral Leadership Scholarship from students who are enrolled in an accredited doctoral nursing program with a focus on leadership. Applicants should live in one of the 26 counties in the Texas Panhandle and commit to serving in the Texas Panhandle in a nursing leadership position after they earn their doctoral degree. The scholarship honoree must be enrolled in a nursing program for the Fall of 2024 and be in good academic standing with a grade point average of at least 3.0. The honoree will receive a $2,500.00 scholarship. Applications are available on The Panhandle Great 25 website, www.panhandlegreat25.com. Please ensure all components are submitted by May 24, 2024.

Criteria

Unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse in Texas.
Registered nurse in full-time practice for at least 10 years.
Serves in a full-time leadership role as a registered nurse for at least 5 years.
Doctoral education must have a focus on nursing leadership.
Influences the profession of nursing through leadership, professional development, and service to improve the quality of care to the community.
Advances the profession of nursing through evidence-based best practices.
Promotes the positive image of nursing.
Serves as a formal and informal mentor to nurses.
A resume of no more than 2 pages.
A response to the following statement: “How my leadership will influence nursing practice in the Texas Panhandle”. Responses should be between 150-200 words, and double-spaced using a 12-font in Microsoft Word.
